Nos hemos demorado en llegar a Manduca. Sobre todo porque no solemos ir al Jockey Plaza tan seguido. Pero finalmente, aterrizamos. Y le sonreímos a la decisión: buenas hamburguesas, sánguches creativos y unas ricas papas fritas. Todo lo que se necesita para ser feliz. Al menos, por el momento.

Hemos visitado Manduca. Finalmente. Y la sorpresa ha sido grata. No solo por la atención (llegamos de casualidad, sin avisar), sino por la calidad de los sánguches y los precios adecuados (tomando en cuenta el nivel de insumos y la ubicación del local). No hemos probado toda la carta porque no cabe, pero si unas cosillas que nos hicieron felices y que nos han picado el diente para volver. Primero las papas fritas, amarillas, crocantes y suaves, bañadas de queso parmesano y tomillo. Solo por eso regresaríamos, sin embargo una salvedad, compramos para llevar, las probamos al momento y estaban perfectas, pero no dejen pasar tanto tiempo antes de consumirlas porque luego se sopean por el queso caliente. Es normal. Luego nos aventuramos por una hamburguesa, la más tradicional: Angus Beef con cheddar, tomate y lechuga. Me sigo peleando con las rodajas de tomate, lo prefiero en cubitos bien esparcido por todo el sánguche. La carne en su punto, gorda y suave. Jugosa. El pan aguantó bien y el queso sabroso. Todo muy bien organizado para brindar el bocado placentero y regalón. También pedimos el Philly, un clásico de la ciudad de Filadelfia, que lleva entraña deshilachada, queso fundido y cebolla blanca. La experiencia fue bastante satisfactoria, sobre todo porque en cada pedazo que mordíamos se sentía unidad y balance de sabores. Finalmente unos crispy nuggets de pollo a la canela china: divertidos, para pasar el rato. La carta es más larga, hay sánguches de pulled pork, hot dog, pollo a la caja china, chicharrón, butifarra, hamburguesas más grandes (incluso una salvaje de 800 gramos de carne), empanadas y hasta pan con cuy laqueado. Como les dije, vale la pena darse una vuelta de nuevo por ahí. Esperamos el momento perfecto para romper la dieta.
