Un viaje de búsqueda, esos para saber qué hacer en su vida profesional, en su larga lista de preferencias, la hizo elegir lo que hoy desarrolla como bar manager en la barra de Lady Bee (one to Watch en 2023 en los 50 Best Bars). Alejandra León recuerda ese crucial momento. Sucedió mientras realizaba prácticas de restauración en un hotel de Estados Unidos: pensaba que el trabajo era muy difícil y extenuante por la fuerza física y mental que  demandaba. Estaba en pleno evento, atendiendo un matrimonio, y en medio del rush vio a una chica trabajando sola en la barra, llevando toda la actividad hacia adelante, resolviendo con rapidez y precisión. Era evidente que ella tenía la responsabilidad de todo y al mismo tiempo se veía refinada, sus movimientos tenían nitidez y lo hacía ver fácil. En ese momento, Alejandra pensó: “esto es para mí”. Así es que regresó a Lima y enfocó sus estudios y su vida en la restauración. 

Ama la versatilidad de ser bartender, estar en la barra, en el salón y también ver la administración del bar. Le fascina el arte, particularmente la cerámica, y se da el tiempo para producir algunas piezas para el bar. En sus horas de descanso, que no son muchas, busca dormir sin interrupciones, dibujar, entrenar, comer, ir al teatro y ver animes. Uno de sus sueños por cumplir es viajar a Japón, la cuna de los anime, y seguir trabajando para que Lady Bee llegue a ser uno de los mejores bares del mundo. 

Su destilado preferido es el pisco y su cóctel favorito es el Capitán. Por esta temporada la castaña capta su atención, pero sus preferencias van variando de acuerdo a los distintos productos de estación que trabajan con diversos productores. Todo esto lo plasma en los cócteles que elabora mientras sigue soñando y creando.

The bar manager at Lady Bee embraces art, ceramics, and anime as much as pisco cocktails and research.

A journey in search, one of those to figure out what to do in her professional life, among her long list of preferences, led her to choose what she now pursues as the bar manager at Lady Bee. Alejandra remembers that crucial moment. It happened while she was doing her internship in a hotel in the United States: she thought the work was difficult and exhausting due to the physical and mental strength it required. She was in the midst of an event, catering at a wedding, and in the middle of the rush, she saw a girl working alone behind the bar, leading all the activity forward, solving quickly and accurately. It was evident that she had the responsibility for everything, and at the same time, she looked refined, her movements were sharp, and she made it look easy. At that moment, Alejandra thought, “This is for me.” So, she returned to Lima and focused her studies and life on hospitality.

She loves the versatility of being a bartender, being behind the bar, in the lounge, and also overseeing the bar’s administration. She is fascinated by art, particularly ceramics, and takes the time to produce some pieces for the bar. In her few hours of rest, she seeks uninterrupted sleep, drawing, training, eating, going to the theater, and watching anime. One of her dreams is to travel to Japan, the birthplace of anime, and continue working to make Lady Bee one of the best bars in the world. 

Her favorite spirit is pisco, and her favorite cocktail is the Captain. Amazonian Nut catches her attention this season, but her preferences vary according to the different seasonal products they work with from various producers. She expresses all this in the cocktails she creates while continuing to dream and create.
